  3. TOTALIFE ONLUS COMPETITION

An intense evening, full of emotions, vibrations, music and joy. The second edition of the "Totalife Onlus" competition ended on May 26th with an event held at the "Domenico Cimarosa" Conservatory in Avellino. This year the young people asked to compete with the theme of the seductive power of images: a great success for the competition, attended by 415 students, including secondary schools of 1st and 2nd grade.

In a room crowded with kids, parents, school managers, teachers, but also supporters of the association and habituès of concerts, the ceremony was opened by the President of the Conservatory, Luca Cipriano, and Roberto Godas, who illustrated the projects carried out in Kenya, from the donation of a mobile hospital to the campaign against tungiasis, taking a look at the new challenges to be faced in the near future. Sober and measured words, which allowed everyone, even those who did not fully know the association, to realize the extent and seriousness of the commitment of "Totalife".

Then, the award ceremony of the three winners of the 1st grade secondary schools: Raffaella Amendola, of the inclusive Institute "F. De Sanctis "di Caposele, which won the first prize with a suggestive series of black and white photos, linked by captions, Maria Chiara Picariello, of the" Perna-Alighieri "Institute of Avellino, in second place with an essay from title "An image to describe life", Michela Barbato, of the "G. Lusi "by Ariano Irpino, who built a collage on the evolution of the human species, from the monkey to the homo erectus to the man of the era of Facebook.

At around 9.00 pm, the concert started: the Conservatory Orchestra, conducted by maestro Gina Grassi, performed in a series of pieces by Beethoveen and Mendelssohn and for the encore, requested loudly, proposed a beautiful piece of Astor Piazzolla. For everyone, and especially for the young solo violin, Renato Orciuoli. open-air applause, which multiplied when Roberto Godas gave the conductor the Totalife pendant, with the stylized image of a warrior woman, and a plaque of thanks for the hospitality to the Director of the Conservatory, Carmine Santaniello

The last part was dedicated to high school students. In a wise organization of the evening, the lights were lit first on two students of the classical high school "Colletta" of Avellino, to whom the Commission has awarded the honorable mention, Martina Morano and Benedetta Capozzi. Martina has presented a series of photos taken by her in European museums, chosen to analyze the language of artistic images on the one hand, and on the other the ruthless competition of mobile phones and social media, able to catalyze attention and enclose teenagers in a non-communicative micro-world; Benedetta, on the other hand, wrote and sang, accompanied by the guitar, "Moved by a photograph", a piece in English that shows moments of family and collective history from the end of the Second World War to the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo.
Second prize for the winner of the last edition, Giovanni Picariello of the "De Sanctis-D'Agostino" Institute of Avellino: a quasi-surveyor who has the vocation and style of the rapper and who presented an engaging piece, "Side effects" , with a refrain - "We care only about how the selfie comes out" - able to conquer even classical music lovers. The video script played on the "frozen" effect, in which Giovanni involved friends and classmates, was much appreciated by the jury and the public.

Last but not least, Raffaella Di Nardo, of the "Colletta" Classical Lyceum, which won the first place, and a 3,000 euro holiday-study abroad, with the video "Dis-connected", conceived and structured as a representation of a teenager's use of a cellphone session. A mature and complex film, in which the music accompanies and underlines the frenetic succession of images, from those of fashion shows to those of Trump's establishment in the White House, from those of the Middle Eastern cities devastated by war to the assisted suicide of dj Fabbo , between models and Michelle Obama, desperate dancers and mothers, Angela Davis and refugees.

At the end of the evening Rosa Grano, Director of the Territorial School Office of Avellino, who attended the event from the very beginning, summarized with her usual incisiveness the profound meaning and the thought of everyone in one sentence: "Let's say 8 x thousand in Totalife ".

An event that has demonstrated, once again, the creativity of young people, and especially the power of life, which is able to broaden the boundaries, push each one beyond their own possibilities, defeat nothingness. In the unforgettable name of Antonia.

On Saturday, June 21st  at the wonderful Tower of Cetara, on the Amalfi Coast, a cocktail party was organized for the second time by TotaLife friends, who decided to promote this event aimed at raising awareness – mostly among young people – towards our  projects.

Some nice music, a drink, a chat with friends in the beautiful setting of the Tower of Cetara. Fantastic scenery, especially at sunset, perfect for a cocktail party (no coincidence in the choice of time and place...).

We created a good relationship with the Town Council: this year they contacted us before we did. Many restaurants in the area offered their contribution spontaneously and free of charge. Attendance to the event was very good

On Friday June 28th 2013 Carla, Paola, Filomena and Ada organized this year's early summer festival in the beautiful setting of the SEA GARDEN in Salerno and dedicated it to TotaLife Onlus.

Many young people and lots of friends attended the event, a particularly effervescent mix that animated the evening to the rhythm of the music by the three DJs from Avellino FABIO GRILLO, DARIO DE ANGELIS and ALBERTO LIMONE, whom TotaLife thanks for their generous participation.

We danced until five in the morning and not even the rain – appearing around two o'clock – managed to stop the young and old, who carried on dancing relentlessy.

Later in the evening, after the rain, lanterns were sent to the sky and rose to ... the brightest star.

Thanks a lot to Teresa and Antonio for the present, to Maddalena for the cake and to Aunt Carla, Paola, Filomena and Ada for the organization.

TotaLife would also like to thank the three event organizers from Avellino DISLIKE, MALANOTTE 2.0 and JASAY EVENT (in the person of Carmine Giordano) for the support and help provided towards the success of the event.

A beautiful evening and a joyous attendance.

THANKS TO YOU ALL .....

  3. ONE NIGHT IN CALABRIA FOR TOTALIFE

The sea, on those August 2013 nights, will certainly not be remembered for its calm. The big waves, as if not knowing how to answer simple questions, were beating strong on the shore with a deafening noise as to distract ears waiting for answers. It will be remembered, by those who were there, as a summer with restless waves, maybe because sensitive to a loss.

Stormy sea in Sibari.

Already in the afternoon, on that midsummer day, on the shore at last touched by lazy waves, hundreds of footprints left by young people anticipated the extraordinary presence of friends who would attend the beautiful evening event..

The kids, that is the name I'll give to a single look, which that night turned to the southern hemisphere, a single big hug, made of all those received by them.

The kids, it's the name I'll give to all their names.

They have the name of that night made of scents, sounds, flavours, colours, smiles, which  gave answers perhaps more sincere than those given by the sea itself.

The appointment was there.

Everything is tinged of crayon red, the sun sets behind the Pollino massif.

That sunset, with many boats crowding the docks, makes the atmosphere magical when the wind changes. In its eternal cycle, the sea breeze gives way to the smell from the citrus groves that fill the plain. The currents coming down from the Sila make the air cooler.

The houses on the water, safe from Ionian intemperance thanks to a strip of land full of oleanders, double due to their reflection in the water and, for a few moments, mingle with the colors of the sky.

In this unique atmosphere, the kids created an evening resembling Tota's smile so that even the moon, entering its first quarter, seemed to have that expression on her lips.

Small shadows on the sand, made by the dim lights of the torches, created an elegant atmosphere.

An evening spent among those who meet again after a whole year. An evening made of dancing, laughter, good food, generosity.

Spent for as long as they had before dawn, too much was the desire to be together.

They gave themselves all the time they had, because no one was missing that night.

Those kids have known each other forever. Their bond doesn't have to do with  encounters tasting of salt, their memories together start earlier, as with their families.

A place made of watery roads, where time seems to stand still for them.

Antonia is part of those kids.

Her home is there.

They will all remember and renew that appointment.

A night without darkness.

On Saturday, June 15th 2013 TotaLife was in Cetara. In the magical scenery of the Amalfi Coast, with the sponsorship by Cetara Council that provided the stunning Viceregal Tower so tastefully renovated, a wonderful evening full of fun and joy of living took place.

A starry sky, a placid sea, ethnic style for the venue decor, thanks to Ilaria.

The Youth Forum of Cetara together with CAST – Cetara Tourism Development Association, gave life to the first TotaLife EVENT under the superb direction by Alice, Gaspare and Gennaro, creators of the event, and with the supervision of Aunt Tina.

The organization was impeccable with the collaboration of Carlotta, Martina, Federica, Jonathan, Giovanni, Alfredo and Peppe and many were the young people who attended the event together with the regulars. The guests had delicious finger food made by Giovanna Avallone and other appetizers prepared by local restaurants. Fresh mojitos were offered by Gennaro and Carlo. 3. SPORTS DAYS - ALL TOGETHER FOR TOTALIFE

Sunday, June 16th 2013, marked the end of the twelfth edition of SPORT DAYS in Avellino, which started on May 31st and saw the participation of TotaLife Onlus with its own stand.

The exciting experience was made possible by the Provincial Director of CONI Giuseppe Saviano, whom TotaLife Onlus would like to thank.

In spite of not always favourable weather conditions, the attendance was massive and many  activities were performed. Particularly interesting was June 13th , a day devoted to the celebration of ethnic integration in which our Onlus, in conjuction with Unione Sportiva Tutta La Vita and the ORGINAL FANS, organized the evening ALL TOGETHER FOR TOTALIFE.

Activities began at 5pm  with a Mass celebrated by Father Emilio Carbone on the altar set up near the bar. It was a beautiful and touching celebration focusing on the wish for a better life for all young people.

A workshop on biscuit decoration started at 6pm, held by Gael Godas from the Pastry Laboratory Le Dolcezze di Magà, where 80 children mastered the art of making biscuits shaped like animals from the savannah.

A course on African drumming for children followed, held by master El Hadji Mbaye.

At 7pm, a session on African dance for adults and children by the teacher Liliana De Cristofaro was offered by TotaLife Onlus.

At 9pm, live music by the master Gamal Seya and Gunà Percussion was the background to the Kenyan ethnic dinner organized by Original Fans and the association Unione Sportiva Tutta La Vita, attended by 250 guests.

There was a large number of visitors at our TotaLife Onlus stall, thanks to the beautiful night, the first of the season with proper summer weather ... All magically perfect.

Thanks everybody ... especially to Rosa Tarantino and all the other friends who made the success of the evening possible

"Anema e core for Tota" is the title of the event, organized by Totalife, held on 4th December 2014 at 20.30 at Disco Pagoda, Country Sport Club, Avellino.

Exceptional protagonist of TotaLife's evening, which was sold out, was Guido Lembo, the king of the famous Taverna Anema e Core in Capri. Lembo and his orchestra performed in a two-hour gig for Totalife in the name of Tota, involving the public. The facilitator of the event knew Antonia personally and wanted to contribute in the realization of her dream “to give a smile to children from Kenya, providing care and assistance to fight mortality, caused by poverty and disease”. The famous caprese singer helped to fuel hope for many African children, but also offered some serene moments to those currently living difficult times.

The proceeds will support TotaLife project against tungiasis, an infestation caused by skin penetration, especially in children, by the pregnant female flea of Tunga penetrans.

The project involves medication and care of about 6,000 people, including children and adults, in the Kijiwetanga sub-location in collaboration with the Kenyan Red Cross.

Special thanks to Guido Lembo and his orchestra and to the venue, kindly provided by Country Sport Club, Avellino

  3. FRESHERS' DAY – LUISS GUIDO CARLI – 2013

On Monday September 23rd  TotaLife Onlus was among the guests of University LUISS Guido Carli for the FRESHERS' DAY with an information stand.

The large representation from TotaLife arrived at 08.00 taking possession of the their stand. It was located next to other internal organizations within the university and others that are entitled, like TotaLife, to free legal aid.

On a sunny Roman day, the university area was soon packed with young freshers from several Italian and foreign cities, reaching the maximum capacity between 11.00 and 14.00.

Despite the great number of offers for training and information, TotaLife's project gathered widespread support among the young students and lots of offers of participation and cooperation.

The association Papango, also attending Freshers' Day, told us about its willingness to collaborate with TotaLife and made a substantial offer to help us in carrying out our projects. TotaLife thanked the new Papango friends for their display of solidarity and friendship and wishes for a long-lasting collaboration.

This day marked the start of a fruitful and intensive cooperation with the prestigious university LUISS Guido Carli and with its many students, engaged in important projects aimed at helping those less fortunate than us

  2. TOTALIFE LIVE CHARITY GIG -  WITH THE BAND “EFFETTI COLLATERALI” PERFORMING  LOVE SONGS.

"TotaLife live charity gig with the Effetti Collaterali Performing Love Songs” is an event  promoted by Teatro Carlo Gesualdo, Avellino, in collaboration with TotaLife Onlus.
On February 13th at Teatro Gesualdo, the well-known Effetti Collaterali (meaning Side Effects, because it is a band formed only by doctors working at the San Giuseppe Moscati hospital in Avellino) played a wide repertoire for the audience.

It was an evening of charity and fun. TotaLife Live was a success from every point of view. A composed yet lively audience filled every corner of the facility. The songs – strictly about love – played by Effetti Collaterali (if we hadn't known they were doctors we would've thought they were professional musicians) stopped from time to time to make room to some moving videos showing TotaLife volunteers engaged in their work.

A special evening dedicated to Antonia “Tota” Godas, whose memory inspires dozens of volunteers daily to give a smile, or maybe just a little hope, to people who live so far away in Kenya.

On the stage of  Teatro Gesualdo a ship full of solidarity sailed following the lead of an exceptional captain, Luca Abete. In the audience, the mayor of Avellino Paolo Foti, the president of the theatre Luca Cipriano, the manager of the hospital Moscati Pino Rosato, but also lots of ordinary people. Men and women so different and yet so close to each other, at least for one evening. There were also many young people, some of them who had personally met Tota and others who got to know her through the association.

In short, it was a big night for Avellino. Between one song by Bennato and one by Battisti, between a laugh from the music by De Andrè and a tear from that by Baglioni, Avellino rediscovered one of its most beautiful sides. One side too often hidden, but no less important. A side that makes us proud to be from Irpinia, a side we can't and won't  give up. Our best side.

President Roberto Godas thanked all institutions and the entire city of Avellino for the positive response to this event, which “we believe is only the first of a long series of events that will be promoted by our association in the near future”.

The evening was sponsored by some businesses from Irpinia, who decided to show their support to the project by funding the concert.
